Mestre Suassuna is the founder of the capoeira group Cordão de Ouro.

Mestre Suassuna was born in Bahia, Brasil. He arrived in São Paulo in 1965 to promote capoeira. He and Mestre Brasilia formed the Cordão de Ouro group in 1967.

He is a worldwide respected mestre not just for his teaching and performing and excellence in capoeira but also for his powerful voice and admirable musicality.

Mestre Suassuna is also the creator of the style ‘Miudinho’. With this style he tried to bring back an old style of capoeira which he adapted to become desirable for the eye of the younger generation.
